Q:
I am a healthy 31 years old make and after getting a couple of blood/urine tests, they have determined my protein level in urine is high. In the 24 hours urine collection, I had 864 mg of urine and it should be less than 150mg. I do not have high blood pressure or Diabetes symptoms. I want to know am I ok? Should I go to nephrologist?
A:
I am sorry to hear you have high protein in urine. Excessive protein in urine is one of the dominant symptoms of kidney problem, but kidney problem is not the only cause of protein urine. Aside from kidney disease, urinary tract infection, high protein intake and drastic physical exercises can cause protein urine symptom. In normal cases, protein in urine is less than 150mg, and now your protein in urine is 864mg which is abnormal for a healthy individual. Therefore, it is necessary for you to found out what causes your high protein in urine.
