A:

Hi, I am sorry to hear you creatinine level increases again after kidney transplant. Generally speaking, creatinine should be in the normal range. However, you creatinine increases, so it is necessary for you to do some tests to found out whether your kidney problem comes back.

In many kidney problem cases, especially FSGS cases, kidney problem comes back again easily. We know kidney transplant is just a procedure in which new kidney is put into patient’s body to replace the bad kidney. Kidneys are responsible for discharging wastes out of our body, so when the new kidney is put in and meanwhile if it can work properly, wastes like creatinine are discharged effectively. Therefore, creatinine level should be in the normal range after kidney transplantation. Even though kidney transplant is effective in some cases, we should know that cause of kidney problem is not removed at all.

If we want to avoid reoccurrence of kidney problem, we need to found out what cause our previous kidney failure. Only when we remove the root causes, can we avoid the reoccurrence of kidney problem and also high creatinine level is prevented as well.

Here I recommend you two articles regarding tests for kidney problem. After reading these two articles, you will be clear about what tests you need to do. Hope it is helpful for you.
