stage 3 kidney disease symptoms

Kidney disease is a progressive condition that occurs when damage to the kidneys inhibits their functions. Their kidneys, responsible for filtering bloodstream, don’t stop working at once but could cause gradual loss of kidney functions over time. There are five developing stages of CKD divided by glomerular filtration rate (GFR). Kidney disease is a latent disease, in stage 1 and stage 2 CKD no symptoms could occur, and stage 3 CKD with glomerular filtration rate (GFR) is the beginning stage wherein it poses symptoms.

Kidney disease typically could cause changes in your urine. Glomerular cells in the kidneys normally prevent proteins and red blood cells from running into urine. Damaged filters can cause an abnormal loss of proteins and blood in urine. Heavy proteinuria will be manifested as foams/bubbles in urine. Edema/swelling can occur because of an abnormal retention of water in bloodstream. An individual can also experience anemia and constant fatigue and tiredness due to reduced production of erythropoietin. Erythropoietin is a hormone that regulates red blood cells in the body, and kidney failure leads to a failure of the synthesis of erythropoietin. This leads to a loss of red blood cells and causes anemia.

If the blood pressure of an individual has been rising at a constant rate for a prolonged period of time, it could signify that the person is suffering from some chronic kidney problem. Hyperkalemia is another problem of kidney disorders, and this is a situation where there is large accumulation of potassium in the blood and the body. Signs of this include palpitations, muscle spasms, muscle weakness, malaise and cardiac arrhythmia. People with kidney disease may also suffer from various kinds of cardiovascular diseases and atherosclerosis, which is a situation where the artery walls thicken thus leading to increased levels of cholesterol in the blood.

As we can find, kidney disease can cause clinical symptom syndrome that affects multiple organs. Some of symptoms can be diagnosed easily, while some others may take months to diagnose thus making kidney disease a very latent disorder. Many people find their problem when it is too late. The best thing to do when stage 3 CKD is diagnosed is to consult an expert doctor and take up his advice to improve the kidneys and live healthy lifestyle.
