Symptoms of CKD in Stage 3

Symptom of stage 3 CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease) varies from one to one and usually it is based on Glomerular Filtration Rate which can be shortly called GFR. CKD stage 3 is marked by GFR ranging from 30 to 59. Kidneys are charge of filtering blood, during which nutrition is kept in body and wastes are discharged as the form of urine. When kidney function decreases and fail to work normally, abnormal symptoms will be caused.

Symptoms may start to become present in stage 3 CKD and they are :

1. Fatigue/ Tiredness

People with stage 3 CKD may feel tired more easily and this usually occurs as the consequence of anemia which is diagnosed when hemoglobin count is less than the normal quantity of hemoglobin in the blood. Hemoglobin normally carry oxygen from the lungs to the tissues. Anemia leads to hypoxia in organs, leading to the occurrence of fatigue.

2. Swelling

Symptom of swelling also is called edema in some countries and refers to the condition that too much fluids stay in the body. A stage 3 CKD patient may notice swelling (edema) in their lower legs, face and around eyes.

3. Urination changes

Urination changes include increased urination at night and changed urine color. Generally speaking, our urine presents in yellow, but for an individual with stage 3 CKD, his urine can be foamy, dark-orange, tea-colored or even red. Also, he may found he needs to urinate for several days a night.

4. Kidney pain

Most people with CKD have no kidney pain, but with some kidney related problems like Polycystic Kidney Disease, Kidney Stone or kidney infection, they may found they have pain in the location of their kidney.

5. Other symptoms: itchy skin, muscle cramps and restless legs and so on.

As CKD in early stage is easy to be ignored, many people do not know they have kidney problem unless there are abnormal symptoms.
