In China, people celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival by sitting together to enjoy the glorious full moon and various delicious foods such as mooncake and fruits. All these foods are tempting and it is really a happy time to enjoy these foods with family and friends. However, because of some special reasons, some people like diabetics may not able to do as normal people do. Well, for people with Diabetes, what they need to pay attention during Mid-Autumn Festival Festival?

1. If diabetics have uncontrolled high blood sugar, they are generally recommended to keep far away from mooncake, pare, apple and some other foods that high in blood sugar. Mooncake sold in market is usually rich in sugar and ingesting too much sugar will aggravate Diabetes. Therefore, for the sake of their health, they need and should keep being far away from these foods. In addition, to have a happy Mid-Autumn Festival, they can cook some foods like mooncake by themselves.

2. Diabetes is marked by high levels of blood sugar which is harmful for our body. However, this does not mean people with Diabetes can not ingest any sugar. Diabetics are allowed to ingest some sugar everyday, but the amount must be limited and also it is based on their specific illness condition.

For diabetics who control their blood sugar level very well, they can eat some mooncake and fruits, but they need to calculate the exact amount they intake, in case of exceeding the allowed amount.

3. For diabetics who has kidney problem, aside from foods high in sugar, they also need to eat less foods high in protein, salt, potassium and phosphorus. All these foods can increase extra renal burden, which is bad for the kidney. Therefore, to protect kidneys from further damages, diabetics need to find out what they can eat and what they can not eat firstly.

Some diabetics may lose their control and eat lots of high sugar foods while they celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival with their friends. At that moment, they need to remember that instead of delicious foods, they should put life on their first place.
