PKD, the abbreviation of Polycystic Kidney Disease, runs to kidney failure directly without effective medical treatment and proper nursing care.
There are several things people can do to slow or delay the onset of renal failure:
﹡Control blood pressure. The current goal of blood pressure for people with ADPKD is less than 130/80. People should begin by regularly testing their BP and restricting their intake of sodium, and combine some anti-hypertensive medicines when necessary. High blood pressure can be a resulting symptom from PKD, and on the other way round, can worsen damage on renal blood vessels.
﹡The same as any other kind of kidney diseases, the patients should avoid any medications that can possibly damage the kidneys, such as Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs(NSAID).
﹡A right diet. Many Polycystic Kidney Disease patients make light of their diet, as they do not believe a diet will produce any influence on their illness condition. In our daily life, some foods can stimulate kidney cyst and promote the secretion of cystic fluids. Also, high protein intake and salt intake increase kidney burden as well. Therefore, if PKD patients pay no attention to their diet, they will experience kidney failure earlier.
﹡Avoid drastic exercises, especially these movements which can cause knock on kidney location. PKD is a disease marked by lots of cysts in kidney. These cysts become rupture easily, and once kidney cyst rupture, kidney infection and other serious illness condition occur easily. Therefore, avoiding kidney drastic exercise is very necessary for slowing down the progression of PKD, especially for patients with large cysts in kidney.
﹡Combining herbal medicine treatment could help delay the progression. Herbal treatment has some special advantages such as accelerating blood circulation and softening cystic walls which could help to shrink kidney cysts. As long as kidney cysts stop enlarging, further kidney damages will be avoided and also kidney failure can be delayed and even stopped effectively.
