Hematuria (Blood Urine) - Polycystic Kidney Disease

2012-09-17 16:29

There are more than 90% patients have cyst bleeding or gross hematuria. In most cases it is spontaneous or after strenuous exercises or physical traumas. The causes of blood in urine mainly include rupture of the blood vessels, kidney stone, infections or cancerization, etc.

In case of heavy bleeding and when the blood clots pass through the urinary tract, it will cause renal colic. In case of infection in the cyst, the hematuria will be aggravated and there will be obvious pyuria, back pains and fever.

Generally the hematuria is self-limited and it can disappear within 2 to 7 days. And if it last for more than a week or the patient is above 50, the possibility of cancerization should be ruled out.

In case of hematuria, go to see the doctor immediately and the first step is to find out the exact cause of bleeding and remove it and then seek more effective treatment to repair kidney damages. Stay in bed and have enough rest and avoid over-tiredness.
