Bad Prognostic Sings of Nephrotic Syndrome

Nephrotic Syndrome patients have different prognosis because of different illness condition and usually they have a bad prognosis if they have the following sings.

1. Serious complication of Nephrotic Syndrome like hepatitis B and tuberculosis always indicate poor prognosis

Nephrotic Syndrome causes no complications in early stage, but without timely control, it will progress to advanced stage in which, various complications like hepatitis B and tuberculosis will be caused easily. Therefore, to have a good prognosis, stopping Nephrotic Syndrome as early as possible is necessary.

2. Vascular disease also can be a sign of bad prognosis for Nephrotic Syndrome patients

In cases of Nephrotic Syndrome, hyperlipidemia usually occurs as a consequence of long-term massive proteinuria and it can cause various vascular diseases. Occurrence of vascular disease always indicates a poor prognosis.

3. Persistent high blood pressure

High blood pressure is one of the dominant risk factors of kidney problem, including Nephrotic Syndrome. It accelerates kidney disease and pushes patients into dialysis earlier. Therefore, if Nephrotic Syndrome patients has persistent high blood pressure, they are very likely to suffer from bad prognosis.

4. Response to steroid therapy

Poor response to steroid therapy always indicates a bad prognosis in cases of Nephrotic Syndrome.

5. Kidney failure

If Nephrotic Syndrome is stopped in early stage, prognosis will be better; however, for people whose Nephrotic Syndrome has developed to kidney failure, they usually have a bad prognosis.
