When infectious germs enter into the body and circulate into the kidneys, it will cause congestion, edema and inflammatory reactions. As a result the renal tissues and structures will be damaged and patients will have a series of symptoms such as frequent urination, increased night urination, urinary urgency, urinary pain, back pain, cloudy urine, blood in urine, fatigue, nausea and vomiting, etc.
Kidney infection is one relatively serious renal disease and it can cause irreversible renal damages and progress into chronic kidney disease if not treated timely or properly.
There are some effective prevention measures and home remedies for patients to get rid of kidney infection even without seeing a doctor especially in the early stage of kidney infection and when the infection is not very severe.
1. Increase urination. Stay hydrated and frequent urination can help flush out toxins and bacteria out of the urinary tract before it enters into the kidney and cause renal infections. Some foods and herbal medicines such as dandelion extract and parsley are natural ways for increasing urine volume and alleviating the infections. Besides, avoid tomato and orange juices, alcoholic drinks or any caffeine-containing beverages because they will worsen the infection.
2. Cranberry juice. Unsweetened cranberry juice is one popular home remedy for kidney infections. It has been reported that cranberry juice can prevent the growing of bacteria in the bladder.
3. Baking soda. Baking soda is good for the kidney and it is a natural and effective remedy for kidney infection.
4. Antibiotics. If patients suffer from unbearable pains, antibiotics or anti-inflammatory drugs can be taken such as ibuprofen, naproxen, etc. Taking hot water bath or using heating pads can also relieve the pain.
