Hypertension - Nephritis

2012-09-16 17:10

Why blood pressure will increase in case of nephritis:

1. The lack of blood supply and increase of renin will aggravate spasm of the small artery and cause persistent high blood pressure. Besides, the increased secretion of aldosterone will cause retention of water and sodium and increase of blood volume and further increase blood pressure.

2. The impairment of the renal parenchyma will cause decreased secretion of prostaglandins, that is why prostaglandins can be used to treat hypertension because it can not only lower blood pressure but also can improve blood flow in the kidneys.

3. Long term hypertension will cause systemic arteriolosclerosis and increase the artery resistance.

Hypertension is caused by nephritis and it will in turn worsen renal impairment and fall into vicious circle, therefore timely measures should be taken to bring the blood pressure under control.

It is suggested that patients should have low-salt, low-fat diet and quit smoking and drinking and avoid emotional excitement. Celery has good auxiliary function on lowering blood pressure.
