Proteinuria - Nephritis

It has been found that 95% kidney diseases are caused by disorders and dysfunction of the immune system. The formation of immune complex and its deposition in the kidneys will cause abnormal immune response and damage renal tissues. On one hand, there will be infiltration of many inflammatory cells (T cells, monocytes, etc) in renal tissues and these inflammatory cells will secrete a lot of cytokines and damage the kidneys. On the other hand, these inflammatory cells and cytokines will stimulate the renal intrinsic cells to secrete various chemokines, cytokines, growth factors, adhesion molecules and extracellular matrix which will cause direct or indirect damages to renal intrinsic cells and tissues.

These abnormal immune inflammatory reactions will damage the renal tissues and affect renal functions, as a result there will be protein leakage in urine (proteinuria), blood in urine (hematuria), etc. Therefore we can see that the most fundamental method for treating proteinuria is to inhibit abnormal immune inflammation and the cellular proliferation, reduce renal glomerulosclerosis, repair kidney damages, regulate immune system and enhance the immunity.
