What Are the Symptoms of Glomerulonephritis

Glomerulonephritis is a disease is which kidneys tissues are damaged because of inflammation in the kidney. With glomerulonephritis in different stages, patients may suffer from different symptoms; however, with the progression of kidney disease, patients will eventually suffer from the following several symptoms.

1. Bubbles in urine: Bubbly urine, also can be called foamy urine, actually is the manifestation of proteinuria. It is the most common and dominant symptoms of kidney disease and indicates glomerular filtration membrane is damaged seriously in cases of Glomerulonephritis. Protein is the necessary substance of our body, and severe loss of protein in urine will lead to many other problems like malnutrition, hypoproteinemia and swelling and so on.

2. Elevated blood pressure: Kidneys have function to adjust blood pressure,and once kidney function is affected., blood pressure increases. For people with Glomerulonephritis, elevated blood pressure can worsen their kidney condition and accelerate kidney problem. Therefore, it is very necessary for them to bring this symptom under control.

3. Blood in urine: Hematuria (blood urine) is a symptom that can be visible or invisible. It is clinically divided into two types: microscopic hematuria and gross hematuria. For Glomerulonephritis patients with microscopic hematuria, they see nothing different in their urine with naked eyes. Microscopic hematuria is diagnosed with microscope. However, for Glomerulonephritis patients with gross hematuria, they may found their urine color is tea-colored, red, dark orange and so on.

4. Fatigue/tiredness: once being diagnosed with Glomerulonephritis, patients become tiredness easily. Fatigue is a common symptom for people with kidney problem and with the progression of this disease, fatigue always becomes more serious.

5. Decreased urine output: Health kidneys help us produce urine and once kidney function is affected, urine output decreases. Decreased urine output usually occurs among people with advanced Glomerulonephritis.

6. Anemia: Anemia is also a common symptom of Glomerulonephritis in advanced stage. Anemia deteriorate kidney condition and speed up the progression of kidney disease. Therefore, for people with Glomerulonephritis in early stage, preventing anemia is very necessary and significant.

Aside from the above symptoms, Glomerulonephritis also suffer from some other symptoms like poor appetite, itching skin, nausea, vomiting, swelling, short of breath, muscle cramp and so on. Kidney is such an important organ for our body that we fail to live normally without functioning kidneys. Therefore, it is of great important for Glomerulonephritis patients to learn how to prevent kidney failure in advance.
