High blood pressure - Membranous Nephropathy

2013-01-03 02:36

The kidneys play key role in regulating blood pressure. Blood pressure may rise when the kidneys are not functioning properly. Hypertension, in turn, can harm renal capillaries and worsen renal damage. Those who have high blood pressure at initial onset of Membranous Nephropathy tend to have a poorer prognosis than others. In others, high blood pressure may occur in developing course of the disease. As kidneys are working not as well, excessive fluid will build up in the body, which will make hypertension even severer.

Ant-hypertensive medicines, such as ACEI or ARB medicines, may be prescribed to control high blood pressure. A diet low in sodium also helps in management of hypertension. Controlling hypertension slows damage to renal intrinsic cells, thus slowing progression of Membranous Nephropathy.
