Hematuria/blood clots - Membranous Nephropathy

2013-01-03 02:35

About half of patients with Membranous Nephropathy have blood in urine. Blood in urine often results from escape of red blood cells due to increased permeability on glomerular cells. In some cases, hematuria can be also caused by urinary tract infection, combined kidney stone or other factors. Usually, microscopic blood urine is more common in Membranous Nephropathy.

Treatment for hematuria is based on the specific disease that is causing the condition. Remitting inflammation on glomerular cells helps to reduce the symptom, and preventing infections may stop relapses of the symptom. Those with combined UTI or kidney stones should take active treatment for their condition.
