What food should not appear in a lupus nephritis daily diet?
1. Stimulating food
Stimulating food may easily cause some disease or make disease worse. Such food include beef, mutton, sea shrimps, marine fish, bath chap, onion, leek and so on. What’s more, clover and beans such as soybeans, broad beans and adzuki beans which can make the disease worse. Thus, patients should avoid them or at least have a restriction on these foods.
2. Foods with high phenylalanine and tyrosine
Food with high phenylalanine and tyrosine should be reduced or avoided since these foods like beef and nonfat milk can have an adverse influence on disease treatment.
3. Fried food
Lupus may involve multiple organs and systems in the body. Lupus patients usually have inflammation of gastrointestinal tract and poor digestive absorption function. Fried food is difficult to digest, which is likely to cause strain on stomach and intestine. So they are suggested to avoid fried food.
4. Food high in cholesterol
High cholesterol foods can increase the risk of heart disease and too much intake of cholesterol can cause coronary atherosclerotic heart disease. Foods high in cholesterol level such as animal offal, fat meat, sausages, desserts such as cakes and chocolate should be avoided. Controlling cholesterol intake through proper diet help protect and preserve kidney function.
