Q:

I have a parapelvic cyst in my right kidney. It was found by accident in B ultrosound. The cyst is very small now and i have no symptoms or discomforts now. It measures about 1.1*0.8. The doctor offered no treatment at all and only ask me to re-check it after 3 months. Should I do nothing now and what should i do in daily life? Will the cyst get rupture and what kind of symptoms will it cause?

A:

First you need not to worry because anxieties, worries and other negative emotions will worsen the illness condition. Take it easy and it is a common kidney lesion and usually will not affect your daily life, that is why your doctor offered no special treatments at all because it is at present very small and cause no symptoms.

Parapelvic cyst is one kind of simple kidney cyst and it is located at the renal pelvis and in most cases is single affecting unilateral kidney.

When it is smaller than 3cm, it usually does not cause any symptoms at all and wehmn it grows larger than 5cm, it can cause back pain, blood in urine, high blood pressure , infections, etc. When it is too large, it has the possibility to get ruptured and will cause fever, shiver and infections, blood in urine, severe pains, etc.

Therefore patients need to pay more attention in daily life to avoid bumps and physical traumas in the abdomen even when the cyst is small now.

Since western therapy mainly adopts surgery for parapelvic cysts and sugery can only be adopted to remove large cysts, the western therapy has no use on small parapelvic cyst. You can at present to take some herbal medicines to slow down its growth rate and have proper diets to avoid any stimulation to the cysts such as tobacco, alcohol, coffeine-containing foods and drinks.
