Q:
I have a cyst on my left kidney and it is 3.8cm and there is no obvious symptom. But last week I experienced sudden and severe stabbing pains on the left side of my abdomen and back. The pain radiates from my ribs to my groin. And then I found blood in my urine. The following day I went to say a doctor and a CT scan is done and a stone in the kidney is found, but the doctor said that the stone is too small to be removed through surgery. So how should I do and I am now 52 and do not want to experience the unbearable pains.
A:
First do not worry that much. Though you have both kidney cyst and kidney stone, the condition is not that serious because the cyst and stone is not so large. The reason you experienced unbearable abdominal and back pain is that when the stone moves in the urinary tract with urine, it cuts the blood vessels and cause sharp pain and blood in urine.
