Q:

I have pains somewhere in their lower abdomen region. I wonder if it is caused by some kidney problem. What is the exact location of the kidneys? I need some help, can you explain it to me.

A:

The kidneys are a pair of organs located in the back of the abdomen. Each kidney is about 4 to 5 inches long—about the size of a fist. As you must know, these are excretory organs that filter wasters from the blood and release them from the body. A pain in the kidney region typically arises when there is some ailment or interference in normal activity in the region.

kidney location

A lot of people have no idea where the kidney pain is felt like and they may mistake pains in back or stomach as pains in kidney area. The kidneys are actually located below the diaphgragm on each side of the body. So patients firstly will need to pinpoint the location of pains. If one suffers from a pain in the flanks, in the lower back portion under the rib cages, then he may be suffering from kidney pains.

People will need to watch out if they have any symptoms of kidney pains, including piercing pains in the upper back region, nausea and vomiting, fatigue, pain in the back, side or groin region, urinary problems(such as abnormal color or blood in urine), frequent or painful urination, etc. If you find difficulty in making it clear, you will be suggested to see an expert doctor for further evaluation.
