A:

Hello, firstly thanks for leaving us message. As for your question, I am afraid I have to say eating less protein will not bring your albumin up and losing less protein will bring your albumin up.

Normally, protein in our blood can not pass through glomerulus which is a part of our kidney. However, once glomeruli are damaged or inflamed, protein can pass through the glomeruli and this condition can damage our kidney directly if it happens over long time. This is the reason why eating more protein does not do you any good.

Our live make a certain amount of albumin per day and if you are leaking protein through the kidneys faster than it can be replaced, then the levels in the blood go down. Eating less protein will help to leak less protein, but it is not the real method to bring albumin back up. The best method to bring albumin back up is to repair damaged or inflamed glomuruli. It is not possible to revive dead glomeruli, but we can repair these damaged glomeruli. As long as much more glomeruli begin to work, less protein leak. Besides, the earlier the patient receive treatment, the lesser glomeruli are dead, so timely treatment is very essential for patient's prognosis and the treatment effects.

At present, Immunotherapy which combines western medicines and Chinese medicines is the most worthwhile treatment. Different from many medicines which only aim at remitting symptoms, Immunotherapy focuses on repairing kidney damages and it achieves this purpose by increasing the self-curative ability of damaged glomeruli. With strong self-curative ability and enough nutrition, these damaged can get recovery easily. As long as much more glomeruli work again, less protein leak out and consequently, albumin in blood increases.

Although there is no completely cure for kidney problem at present, we should keep being optimistic. We believe kidney problem can be cured through our joint effectors in the soon future.
