Creatinine Level 1.49 -1.72 After Kidney Transplantation: Is There Any Other Way to Lower it?

2012-10-08 16:00

Q:

Hi, I had my transplantation 2 years ago and I see there is a lot of fluctuation of my secrum creatinine levels in between 1.49-1.72. My blood glucose level is normal and my blood pressure is also normal. I take sirolimus 1 mg and Mycofit 360, defcort 6mg. Amtas 5 mg, Losar 50 mg, Arkamin 0.1mg, Shelcal 500mg, Rocoltrol 0.25mg.

I have gained some weight last 2 months, My question is is there anyother way to reduce my serum creatinine? By the way, my last week serum creatinine level was 1.49... I wish the levels be stable, yet it worries me. Please help and thanks in advance.

Hi, how are you now? Thanks for your trusting about us.

High creatinine level always occurs as a result of decreased kidney function, so in such a case, the best method to lower creatinine is to repair kidney damages and then recover kidney function.

Creatinine is one of the wastes produced by our body and normally is discharged by our kidney. Elevation of creatinine level indicates our kidneys have failed in helping us expelling various wastes. Therefore, if we want to reduce the level of creatinine and other wastes, we must increase our renal excretion function. In our kidneys, there are dead renal tissues, damaged renal tissues and healthy renal tissues. As for these dead renal tissues, we can not bring them back to life again, so what we can do is to protect our healthy renal tissues and then repair these damaged renal tissues by means of increasing their self-curative ability. As long as more and more renal tissues work, wastes (including creatinine) can be discharged more and also creatinine level decreases.

Recoveing kidney function is the best method to lower creatinine level and aside from it, patients also need to regular their diet, so as to reduce the reduction of creatinine. In general, with high creatinine level, patients need to avoid high-protein diet, high-potassium diet, high-phosphorus diet, high-salt diet and also avoid eating too much meat.

With effective medical treatment and dietary regulation, we believe your creatinine can be kept under control effectively and quickly.
