Treatment for Stage 5 CKD with GFR 11 and Creatinine 460

Q:

I am making an enquiry on behalf of my father. He is currently in stage 5 CKD, GFR 11 and creatinine level of 460. Doctor suggested dialysis to him, but he chooses not to have it. Is there any alternative treatment for stage 5 CKD with GFR 11 and creatinine 460?

A:

GFR and creatinine are two important indexes in measuring how well your kidneys are functioning. GFR measures how much blood is filtered by kidneys and it is ranging between 90-125ml/min. When GFR declines to 11, it means that only 11ml blood with waste products is filtered by glomeruli. If less blood is filtered by kidneys, the waste products will not be eliminated from blood. Creatinine is the byproduct of muscle metabolism and is normally filtered out of body by kidneys. The normal level of creatinine is between 44-97 mmol/L for women and 53-106 mmol/L for men. Creatinine 460 is associated with high levels of waste products and toxins in blood.

Dialysis can filter out a part of waste products from blood. Therefore, creatinine can be lowered to some extent after dialysis. However, GFR can not be increased as dialysis can not restore the impaired kidney structure.

To treat stage 5 CKD with low GFR and high creatinine, Micro-Chinese Medicines Osmotherapy is considered to be an effective treatment.

The effective medicines can dilate blood vessels in kidneys and increase blood flow through kidneys. Therefore, creatinine can be lowered and GFR can be increased to some extent.

The most important therapeutic effect of Micro-Chinese Medicines Osmotherapy is that it can restore the impaired kidney structure and enhance renal function. If the kidney structure can be restored, GFR will be improved and creatinine will be lowered remarkably and fundamentally.
