IgA Nephropathy with Protein in Urine And High Blood Pressure

2013-12-27 14:39

I was diagnosed with IgA nephropathy a couple of weeks ago and I have 1300mg of protein in my urine.I have high blood pressure for about 7 years.I feel very scarred. What treatment does you suggest me?

IgA nephropathy is an autoimmune disorder with deposits of immunoglobulin A (IgA) in kidneys.Immune system is a powerful protective system of the body. When outside harmful substances invade into body, immune system will work to produce immunoglobulin to defeat them.In autoimmune disorder, however, the immune system fails to function adequately. After the harmful substances are eliminated, the activity of immune system still continues. As a result, extra IgA is produced in body. The extra IgA will deposit in mesangial area. If the deposits can not be eliminated in time,it may cause the inflammation in kidneys. The uncontrolled inflammation may worsen renal function, resulting in progressive renal function deterioration.

Protein is a kind of macromolecular useful substance in body. In right condition,it can not squeeze through glomeruli so will be retained in body. However,in IgA nephropathy, the glomeruli are impaired and fail to prevent the leakage of protein from body. Hence, it will cause protein in urine.High blood pressure is a significant accelerator in worsening renal function.

As for the treatment for IgA nephropathy with protein in urine and high blood pressure, the general treatment includes medications for high blood pressure like lisinopril and steroids for inflammation of kidneys. However, these drugs can not control the underlying cause so the disease still recurs very frequently.

As mentioned above,IgA nephropathy occurs due to immune dysfunction. To control IgA nephropathy with protein in urine and high blood pressure, apart from the general drugs, treatment should be applied to help the body rebuild normal immune system and recover its protective function. Immunotherapy can help the patients attain those treatment goals by using the body’s autoimmune system. You can email to kidneycares@hotmail.com  to learn how this therapy works.
