Does Ibuprofen Cause FSGS

2013-06-29 16:00

Q:

I am 48 years old. I have used ibuprofen every day for 20 years but recently I was found proteinuria. My doctor doubts it may be FSGS. Does long term use of ibuprofen can cause FSGS? Any advice?

A:

Ibuprofen has an effect on anti-inflammation, analgesia and antipyretic, so it mainly used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, etc. However, long-term use of ibuprofen can cause the following adverse reactions:

-The most common side effect of ibuprofen is gastrointestinal system disorders such as abdominal distension, constipation and diarrhea.

- Nausea, vomiting, headache and dizziness

- Heartburning or stomach pain

- Skin itching or skin rash

In addition, when taken in large doses for long time, ibuprofen indeed can induce kidney disease such as FSGS and Nephrotic Syndrome or even kidney failure. Its incidence is about 1%.

From the above analysis, we can know your long-term use of ibuprofen may have already caused FSGS. At this time, an accurate diagnosis is quite needed to guarantee you can get prompt treatment.

For FSGS treatment, we recommend Immunotherapy and the blood of stasis, because they can not only purify your blood but also prevent further kidney damage and improve your kidney function. Only if your kidney function is preserved, you can live without proteinuria or other symptoms again. Any questions about your tests or treatments, feel free to let me know.
