Q:

I’m 27 female and have Nephrotic Syndrome as well as IgA vasculitis. My latest test shows my blood pressure is 113/80. I want to know “can Nephrotic Syndrome patient drink ice water or eat popsicles?

A:

In the hot weather, people especially the young would like to drink some ice water or eat some ice foods. However, even though how you want to try these ice drinks or foods, your health is always more important than others. For people with Nephrotic Syndrome and IgA vasculitis, their disease is more likely to attack other organs as well as gastrointestinal tract.

In this situation, drinking ice water or eating popsicles can increase the workload on patients’ gastrointestinal tract or even worse patients’ condition. In view of this, people with Nephrotic Syndrome had better avoid ice water and popsicles.

For people with not only Nephrotic Syndrome but also other kidney disease, a correct diet can help assist the whole treatment, while a mistaken diet may destroy the whole treatment. If you are suffering from Nephrotic Syndrome, you can drink a glass of herbal tea that can help remove more wastes from the body and protect your remaining kidney function.
