The final goal of IgA Nephropathy treatment is to prevent or delay uremia. Well, what is the treatment to prevent uremia?
1. Medicines to reduce blood pressure
Proteinuria is larger than 1g per day, patients are recommended to take RAS Blocking Agent. You can increase the dosage until the proteinuria is less than 1g. Blood pressure should be controlled below 130/80mmHg in patients with proteinuria less than 1g. Blood pressure is controlled below 125/75mmHg in patients with proteinuria larger than 1g.
2. Steroids
If you take six months of RAS Blocking Agent, your proteinuria is still larger than 1g. When Glomerular Filtration Rate is larger than 50ml/min/1.73m2, you can take no more than 6 months of glucocorticoid. But you should pay attention to the side effects of steroids like severe infection, high blood pressure, weight gain, diabetes or osteoporosis.
