Brown Urine in IgA Kidney Disease

2013-05-26 16:34

Under normal circumstances, urine color ranges from pale yellow to deep amber. However it is very common that IgA kidney disease (IgA nephropathy) often notice brown urine or cola-colored urine. This means that there is red blood cells in their urine. Brown urine is often accompanied by protein in urine, swelling, high blood pressure or even renal dysfunction.

Brown urine often occur after infections such as upper respiratory infection or gastrointestinal infection or after strenuous activities. Many patients feel very scared when they notice brown or even red urine. In case of blood in urine, it is necessary that patients should stop strenuous activities, stop work and have good rest. Have more fluid intake, have light foods and diets, limit the intake of salt, fats can all help ease the symptoms.

Often blood in urine can disappear, but it is necessary to go the hospital to have a urine test to see if the gross hematuria has turned into microscopic hematuria (blood can not be seen with naked eyes). Especially if you still feel fatigue, nausea, vomiting or pains.

If there is persistent blood in urine or microscopic hematuria, early and effective treatment should be sought or it can lead to serious illness conditions.

The cause of blood in urine for IgA kidney disease patients is the impaired renal filtration membrane. The deposition of immune complexes in the glomerular mesangial areas and abnormal renal inflammatory reactions can damage the renal filtrating system and cause leaking of proteins and red blood cells in urine. Therefore to cure brown urine, effective treatment should aim at repairing the damaged glomerular basement membrane so as to help prevent the leakage of red blood cells. Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy has been proved to be effective at treating brown urine for IgA nephropathy patients because active ingredients in Chinese medicines can help repair renal damages, recover renal filtration system and enhance kidney functions.

For those that have repeated gross hematuria (blood in urine can be seen with naked eyes), it is tonsillectomy can be done and this can help eliminate a major risk factor of hematuria relapse.
