Life Span of A Person with GFR 10 without Dialysis

2013-12-23 16:25

Dialysis is a replacement treatment which is applied when kidneys fail to function adequately.Dialysis can sustain a patient’s life and prolong the life span.Without dialysis, a person’s life span will be shortened significantly. What is the life span of a person with GFR 10 without dialysis?

How serious is GFR 10?

GFR measures how much blood is filtered by glomeruli each minute. The normal level of GFR is between 90-125 ml/min. Based on GFR level, chronic kidney disease (CKD) can be divided into 5 stages.A person with GFR is in end stage renal disease (ESRD) with GFR below 15ml/min.In this stage,a person with GFR 10 suffer from a large number of discomforts and complications like fatigue, nausea and vomiting, swelling etc.

Life span of a person with GFR 10 without dialysis

In most cases,a person with GFR 10 without dialysis will live for only several days.As high levels of fluid and waste products build up in body, they can impair nearly all organs in body. Multiple organs failure is commonly seen in ESRD and they can accelerate the patients’ death.Pulmonary edema is a significant death cause of a person with GFR 10 without dialysis.

However, if GFR 10 can be increased, even without dialysis, the patients still can have a long life span.Stem Cell Therapy can restore the impaired kidney tissues and cells to enhance renal function remarkably.

Stem cells are a group of immature cells with powerful differentiating capacity. In right condition, they can differentiate into different kinds of cells and tissues to meet the body’s need.

In treating kidney disease, stem cells can differentiate into renal functional cells. The new cells will replace the impaired and necrotic renal cells, thus restoring the impaired kidney structure. If so, the current GFR 10 will be improved. Even without dialysis,a person still can live as long as the general population.
