How to Reduce Serum Creatinine of 7

2012-11-16 17:20

Creatinine is the metabolic waste of muscles. When creatinine is released into the blood, it is serum creatinine. Under normal circumstances, nearly all creatinine will be discharged out of the body with urination since it can pass through the glomerulus (small molecular substance) and very little will be re-absorbed in the renal tubules.

The measuring of serum creatinine level is one of the main method reflecting renal functions. However it is not a sensitive indicator. Only when more than half of the kidney functions have been lost can there be increase of creatinine. When GFR (glomerular filtration rate) falls to 50%, serum creatinine can be normal. However when GFR falls below 25%, the creatinine will increase dramatically.

Usually serum creatinine of 7 mg/dl will require renal replacement therapy---dialysis to help discharge excessive accumulation of metabolic wastes and toxins out of the blood or they will in turn cause further damages to the kidneys and worsen the illness condition. Actually the increased creatinine level is the symptoms and the root reason is kidney damages and declined kidney functions. Though dialysis can reduce creatinine in a short time, the effects can not last for long time. This is because the creatinine will be produced continuously so long as there are muscles. On the other hand, dialysis is just a machine to clear too much creatinine and other wastes out of the blood, renal damages can not be repaired and renal functions can not be improved. What is more, lowering creatinine should not be the ultimate goal.

To reduce high creatinine of 7, the key and critical point is to improve kidney functions. And only in this way can creatinine be lowered naturally from the root.

But the question is how to improve kidney functions. For improving kidney function, the first step is to find out which part of the kidney is damaged and how severe the damage is. Effective treatments should have the functions of dilating blood vessels so as to increase blood flow and oxygen supply to the kidneys. This can help alleviate hypoxia and ischemia in the kidneys and provide enough nutrition for repairing damaged renal intrinsic cells and tissues.
