High creatinine and skin problems

Creatinine is the byproduct of muscle metabolism and it is normally filtered out of body by kidneys.However,when kidneys are not functioning properly,creatinine will accumulate in body. In fact,creatinine itself is not toxic at all,but high levels of creatinine is related to high levels of waste products in body and other serious health problems.

While there is no a direct relation between high creatinine and skin problems, the patients will suffer from skin problems if the levels of creatinine is pretty higher than normal.

Causes of skin problems in people with high creatinine

Itchy skin

Itchy skin in kidney disease is mainly due to high building up of phosphorus in body.Phosphorus is a kind of important mineral in body and it plays an important role in keeping the bone healthy. However,when kidneys are impaired,phosphorus will not be removed from body adequately.High levels of phosphorus can give rise to itchy skin.

Dry skin

Dry skin is one of common skin problems in people with high creatinine is mainly attributed to two causes.Firstly,renal patients have to limit fluid intake,thus resulting in lower content of fluid in body.Secondly,endocrine system will be affected if your kidneys are not functioning well.Oil gland can not produce enough oil.It is also an attributable factor of dry skin.

Uremic frost on skin

The patient’s skin may become yellow along with skin itching due to uremic frost on skin.Uremic frost on skin is due to high accumulation of urea in body.The accumulated urea can be discharged out of body through sweating gland to form crystals on skin. The crystal on skin is called uremic frost.
