High creatinine level and low GFR
They are two tests used to check how well kidneys are filtering waste products. Normally, GFR ranges from 90-120ml/min, and creatinine level changes between 0.5 and 1.2mg/dl. Stage 3: GFR 30-59ml/min, creatinine 178-442umol/l
Stage 4: GFR 15-29ml/min, creatinine 442-707umol/l
Stage 5: GFR<15ml/min, creatinine > 707umol/l
How to lower high creatinine level and increase low GFR
Different stages need different management. In stage 1 and stage 2, kidney can still do their job optimally, that is to say, only a small part of kidney functioning cells are just damaged. In this condition, it is possible to reverse kidney damage and patients’ condition. However, in the moderate or end stage of kidney disease, some kidney cells are damaged but some kidney cells are necrotic. At present, what we can do is to make the damaged kidney cells alive again, but for necrotic cells, we can do nothing.
