Where is the location of kidney pain

Since there are many causes of kidney pain and the location of the pain can be different. It can occur at the abdomen, lower back, flank, below the armpit or groin pain. The pains can be dull and persistent or sudden, sharp or even come and go without warning.

Kidney pains can be caused by a variety of problems such as kidney stone, kidney cysts, urinary tract infections or urinary tract obstruction. Different treatments should be received according to the exact underlying causes of kidney pains.

What are the possible causes of kidney pain

Kidney stones

Small stones in the kidney can move along with urine and might cut the renal tissues especially if its shape is irregular. In such case, it can cause sudden and sharp pain or even blood in urine. As for large stones, they may block the urinary tract and cause urine to revert back to the kidneys from the bladder, thus causing pains.

Kidney cysts

Weather it is simple kidney cysts, polycystic kidney disease or medullary sponge kidney, the continuously enlarged cysts can cause pains due to various conditions---the enlarged cysts can cause kidney enlargement and stretch renal capsule and cause dull and persistent aching. Infections in the cysts or cyst rupture can cause sharp and unbearable pain. What is more, kidney cysts will easily cause kidney stones and urinary tract obstruction.

Urinary tract infections

Urinary tract infection are mainly bacterial infections in the urinary tract and it can cause sharp back pain or pains in abdomen and flank.

Kidney infections

If urinary tract infection is not treated and controlled well and timely, the bacteria might enter into the kidneys and multiply there.

How to manage kidney pains

In case of kidney pain along with other medical conditions such as fever, vomiting, blood in urine, patients should stop work and other strenuous activities, have adequate bed rest and seek immediate medical consultation and timely treatments according to accurate diagnosis.
