What Is The Pathogenesis Of Renal EdemaMany diseases may show edema. With different diseases of edema, the pathogenesis is also different. Therefore, what is the pathogenesis of renal edema?

Renal edema may be related with the following several factors:

1. The retention of water

Glomerular primary damage leads to the decrease of glomerular filtration rate. However, the reabsorption ability of kidney tubule, especially distal convoluted tubule begins to rise, which makes excessive water not be excreted out of your body, called retention of water. In this condition, renal edema occurs.

2. Massive protein leakage into urine

Glomerular basement membrane permeability increases leading to amounts of protein leakage into urine. Protein leakage will lead to the decrease of plasma proteins and plasma osmotic pressure. For this reason, fluid in blood vessels will flow to interstitial space and renal edema presents.

3. Secondary water retention

Fluid of blood vessels moves to interstitial space, leading to effective circulating blood volume decrease. The drop of effective circulating blood volume and cardiac output enables to stimulate reflex adjustment of nerves and endocrine which will cause a series of increase, such as sympathetic nerves, catecholamine, renin, angiotensin, aldosterone activity and antidiuretic hormone. A series of increase will further cause the decrease of glomeruli blood volume and glomerular filtration rate, causing the ability of kidney tubule rise. In this case, secondary edema appears. The retention of water makes blood volume become more. And this will make the pressure of blood capillary rise, causing excessive fluid in blood capillary move to interstitial space. Edema occurs again.

4. In addition, another cause is also related to edema -inflammation.

That refers inflammation will cause your whole body’s blood capillary permeability promotion. In this case, fluid will also move to interstitial space.

All of the above pathogenesis can cause edema and you need to know clearly which pathogenesis is related to your renal edema. Then you can take effective measurement to repair your kidney function to treat renal edema.
