What Are the Main Causes of Chronic Kidney Disease

2012-12-09 14:38

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) includes the majority of diseases in the kidneys for example, glomerulonephritis, latent nephritis, pyelonephritis, purpura nephritis, lupus nephritis, hyperuricemia nephropathy, IgA nephropathy, nephrotic syndrome, membranous nephropathy, diabetic nephropathy, hypertensive nephropathy, polycystic kidney disease, etc.

1. From the perspective of blood rheology, kidney disease patients usually have obvious increases of plasma viscosity, fibrin content and platelet aggregation which are the major causes of ischemia and necrosis of renal intrinsic cells.

2. Infection is one inducing factor of kidney disease for example the pharyngitis and tonsillitis. Cold is the most common infection that can induce or cause relapsing of kidney diseases.

3. Low immunity. Bad external environment such as cold and damp will lower the body’s immunity and disease-resistant ability. Long term over-tiredness can also lower immunity and make people more susceptible to kidney diseases.

4. Suppressing urine. Long time full bladder can not only damage the bladder but also will cause virus infection. Once the urine flows back into ureter and kidneys, the toxins in urine will cause kidney infections and cause urinary tract infection, kidney disease or even uremia.

5. Improper intake of medicines. Many common and widely used medicines such as anti-inflammatory analgesic and herbal medicines have renal toxicity and improper use can damage the kidneys.

6. Obese people have high risk of getting diabetes, hypertension, if these chronic illness is not properly controlled and treated for long time, they will cause renal damages.

7. Too much intake of salt. High level of sodium can cause swelling and high blood pressure which is a major risk factor of kidney diseases.

8. Many diseases can damage the glomerular filtration membrane and lead to nephrotic syndrome. Among all nephrotic syndrome, there are about 2/3 adult cases and the majority of children cases are primary and the rest are due to secondary diseases such as infections, medicines, toxins, allergies, tumor, lupus, purpura, diabetes, etc.

9. Acid internal environment. Acid constitution is easy to damage kidney functions. Acid body fluid will neutralize alkaline minerals and trace elements. Therefore kidney disease patients should have more alkaline foods which are conducive for their kidneys.
